Aniville: Speed Grapher Review

Aniville: Speed Grapher Review

Here at Aniville we take the time to go back and watch series that we have seen before but this time do it with a slightly more open mind then we did before. This is where Odin comes in with the biggest collection of DVDs and VHS most anime fans have ever seen he goes through his collection bringing his thoughts to the fans.

With the Holidays here and a little free time at hand I decided to step back into my collection to 2005. Ye I know I have been doing more modern Animes then the really way back 90s and even 19080s animes that I am a lot more familar with.  Well there is a reason why I pulled this DVD set out. I was at New York Comic Con and I was reminded by the series a few time by my associate on this trip Faith. Who really knows why I decided to sit back and really go deep into this series again but overall I did have fun.

Speed Grapher is a story about Tatsumi Saiga a former war photographer who has taken up the paparazi life with a distint search for the perfect model to make him feel again. Tatsumi Saiga is voiced in the English version by Christopher Sabat who you would probably recognize that name from… DragonBall Z (Piccolo, Vegeta and others) or even more upto date he was Armstrong in FullMetal Alchemist.

Well Tastumi Saiga discovers the Roppongi Club a place for all the wealthiest to get their deepest desires fed in this world of the Rich and the Poor. In this club Saiga meets a girl who is called “The Goddess” who’s real name is Kagura Tennozu the daughter of the richest family in Japan.

As Saiga finds this ritual and breaks it up with photos Kagura kisses him unleashing a hidden power within Saiga that any picture he takes makes them explode. This starts a 26 episode series to discover the secrets about Kagura, The Roppongi Club, And The dark corruption that plagues the world of greed, fantasies, and power.

I really enjoyed this series. The Animation is really to a style of my liking. The writing of this series is where I am going to be a little Biased…. Shine Yoshida in my opinion is one of the best writers I have seen in anime. I love all the stuff I have seen. The Big O, Karas, Speed Grapher… His touch on this series ads alot. The under story is very deep and if you watch it now adays you can see how a lot of it actually hits close to what’s going on today that society is becoming only two classes instead of having a middle class. IF you liked “The Big O” And the under story in that. Definitely check this one out.

Oh before I forget which I didn’t write in the review. This is not a series safe for work.  There is a lot of talk of Sexual Festishes. Heck the Roppongi Club is basicly a festish club so not safe for work. These isn’t any hentai some boobage showing but the rating to TV-MA
